The staff of Hotel Central were warm, friendly, and helpful. They offered a warm welcome and an early check in. I had two reservations set up, back-to-back, which they effortlessly merged and had me all set in minutes. Despite my bad Hungarian, they naturally were in top form in English. The location of the hotel, near the main mall in Pécs (with a massive hyper-market grocery store) and the short 5 min walk to the main square in Pécs, you'll be in a great spot for your visit. If you're out late night, you can finish things up even later with the nearby beer bar (3am closing!) & gyros spots (they were around the corner and not causing noise in the hotel). The room was standard C. European, with robust central AC (a godsend in the warm summer days). The bed was a usual "two twins squished together" with thick duvets. The bedding was standard -nothing luxurious, but nothing spartan. The bathroom towels were amazingly plush, and everything was clean, clean clean. The room featured a helpful refrigerator, though the in-room safe was broken. A kettle was around, along with tea/coffee (though the coffee was only the 3-in-1 super sweet coffee). The hotel "style" seems 90s, so a bit dated, but nothing bad. Breakfast was very C. European, with local breads, delicious strudel (don't sleep on the sour cherry strudel!), juice, 2 types of eggs, sausage, coffee machines, yoghurt, breakfast cereal, cold cuts, peppers-tomatoes-cucumbers, and a handful of juices. Nothing gourmet, but lots of variety and very solid.

Hotel Főnix is a vintage hotel located in central Pecs near the city's best restaurants, cafes and bars. The rooms are modest, but functional and clean with good Wi-Fi. I had a single room and it worked perfectly for me as a solo traveler. What I really liked was the old school European hotel vibe. It reminded me of the places I stayed at during my first European trip in 1990. My rating is 8.5/10.

Located within a 15-minute walk from the city center, Hotel Barbakán has air-conditioned rooms with cable TV, a desk and free wired internet. Free public parking is possible by the hotel.

This is a great place to stay. It’s clean, comfortable, quiet with parking and great breakfast! Our room was big and just perfect. The host was polite and spoke good English. We definitely recommend this place for your stay.

Very organized and efficient with an elevator. The breakfast was superb, staff was very helpful and friendly. Great location, lots of things to do and many good restaurants walking distance. Private parking lot was just a half a block away for a reasonable price.
